I was not happy with the audio quality of my video recordings. I was using analogue in on my Alchemy DVR video tuner card. So I thought a possible fix might be to connect my audio source to my Yamaha Receiver and then use a digital out to my G5. I hooked it up and the audio quality is much improved. However, I can’t record. I set up preferences in all my audio recording apps yet none of them will capture the audio even though I can hear it. I welcome your input. (so to speak)
There should be some sort of control panel in OSX that allows you to specify recording sources, I suspect that it’s set to your DVR or mic but the digital in isn’t hooked up.
I should have said. I can hear the digital in. That’s not a problem. I just can not record it. My DVR prefs are set to record audio from the digital in. So are all my audio apps. So are the system prefs for sound.
Thanks. I can record using analogue inputs. I want to record the digital input because it does not have any noise.
Ill get back to you on the “different volume booting’ thing.
OK, the problem is I have my Optical digital cable plugged into an input not an output. Sheesh! There is no digital output on the receiver. Just 3 inputs. I guess I’ll have to use analogue.
