I’ve decided to synchronize my identity on the forums I participate in. Why?  Authenticity and simplicity are valuable internet attributes.

Ok, so I was not exactly anonymous. I’ve just been reading a bit about cyberbullying. I realized that most of these creeps hide behind anonymity. I wonder what would happen if everyone had to use their real identity in chat and forums and email. Would cyberbullying dissappear?

I think everyone should have to provide their mother and/or father’s email address with every post. If they start getting nasty, a quick email to mum and dad will end that. smile

You seem to be stuck in your child-hood Mac Fan, but I agree it’s child-ish to not behave well.  wink I can’t say I’m a big fan of banning people, that’s very rude too and can be done very arbitrarily. mad

I think you’re missing the point altogether. Read more of my thoughts on this.

I wasn’t being sarcastic, if that’s what you are thinking. It was just harmless humor. I happen to agree that anonymity is a reason some people act differently on the Internet than they do in person. My point, made in a humorous way, is that I don’t think those people who act that way would if their parents knew, which kind of goes along with your point about anonymity.

Yes, I did think you were being sarcastic. So, thanks for clearing that up.
