Do you have a Gmail account?  Want to speak to your friends or do voice chats?

Today Google launched Google Talk, a free Windows application for IM and more.  It is built on Jabber, an open-source messaging standard, and other open standards/protocols.  Google’s goal is to unite AIM, Skype, Yahoo and other standards and they are starting with a deal between Earthlink and a Skype competitor.

The screenshots on the website show the 900kb program’s characteristic no-nonsense interface and in the second link you can see that 10.4 iChat users and other programs that speak Jabber can “Talk” too.

What do you think?  If you need a gmail invite, talk to me.
