John Shannon, STS-114 mission operations representative, pointed out video frames apparently showing a piece of heat shield tile breaking off from the underside of the shuttle.

All I can say is crap sad

NASA needs to get businesses to build their stuff, if I bought a space shuttle and it had one tile short I’d have reason to sue them into oblivion, if NASA builds their own there isn’t the only ones that are held accountable is themselves, and they don’t seem too good at that.

I don’t think the space shuttle business is very lucrative, especially considering the cost of building one, so I doubt Nasa would be able to find many companies who’d want to build it more than they already do (you think Nasa builds all the parts and assembles them all by themselves?).

They’ll contract the rest out just in time to go back to the drawing board for the successor to the shuttle. I can’t wait to see what they come up with. vampire
