There appear to be some quirks with DT and Safari.

Must be. I’ve never had any of those problems with Firefox, Opera, or IE (6 and 7).

I think you’ve changed something in a more or less dramatic way which may have confused Safari’s way of managing its cache, i.e. emptying Safari’s cache may solve the problem. It has worked for me this far.
