2x have I tried mandriva, and 2x has the install resulted in a text prompt on first boot (which is the very foundation for a user friendly distro), and 2x have I ended up with three coasters
What is it with these programmers who think it’s okay to not make sure, damn sure, the user will get a GUI on first boot? Expecially when the install had a GUI, obvoiusly there seems to be come graphical capability.
Why do they think installing the bootloader in the MBR is a good idea even though it’s incredibly difficult to uninstall bootloaders from there? If you put it in the root partition then all you have to do if the install goes sour is set the active partition back to your windows partition.
