1) Avoid PPC programs running under Rosetta.  Quinn tetris (which unfortunately got sued before teh universal binary could be finished) is an example of 10+ second open times and pauses during game movements, high score screen transition...who knows what else.  I’ve deleted the apps that were like this and had to take a break from tetris.  I know not everyone can afford to sacrifice some of their apps but it’s a good time to check out the competition because Rosetta can be bad.

2) Get a wireless Mighty Mouse.  a) no mouse pad = A LOT of desk space b) no flashing light c) cordless (the regular mighty mouse also is bad because it’s cord is short---though that is also good) d) has a nipple e) no mouse pad!!!  just watch out for your palm touching the edge of your desk when u use no mouse pad.  Get the right height in your chair and avoid behind your arm down...keep your arm and hand straight...but i’m not 100% on the ergonomics.

3) If your new computer makes noise, don’t so quickly accept that.  Over time the noise will only get worse and it’s possible that your model was a bad one and you can get an exchange for a quiet healthy one.  I think it’s important to have no distracting and often unpleasant fans...or otherwise be distracted.

4) IRC, MSN, e-mail, bla bla bla are REAL.  They are a valid lifestyle.  There’s no reason IRL is the only valid lifestyle.  Online you can meet people much more like yourself and not care about looks.

5) Avoid focusing on people’s looks or basically anything but their mind, even their poor communication skills.  Their mind shapes their heart.  I am realizing i prefer the online world for my social life and it has been my only choice for many reasons lately while living in the suburbs and I’m not really disappointed.  I think I respect people more now and I have more hope for humanity.  I really do believe you should be a listener, trying to understand the person.  It took me a while to realize that.  You can save a lot of time by trying it yourself more and have stronger relationships and better rapport especially with women.

6) I’d like to expand on 4 and 5.  The same thing about looks not mattering applies to tech.  You should look at specs, objective calculating performance.  You should look at Mac OS X for usability and task performance increases.  Don’t live in some false love relationship with a brand.  Get back to reality.  Decide with your head.  It’s like we all love these companies and I respect those of us who care more about the specs.  They build their own computer and it works.  They understand computers, not how to love a fake corporation person.  You shouldn’t think of it as Apple but as Core Duo processors, overpriced RAM chips, LCD’s, ergonomics.  Yes, looks do have a value in design but they are also functional and can be understood that way.  You need to be fucking rational.  Stop loving companies.  That being said, you can still love a company once you realize you don’t have to and don’t feel ashamed about judging them by the facts as well.

It seems easier to live in a marketing speak world than really do the math.  Personally I rely on many articles about computers from macbytes.com and i do TONS and TONS of research.  I easily spent 6 months on the first powerbook before i finally got it.

7) ...Profit
