Super Mario Bros. 1 for NES

Late nights this summer have spent jumping over pipes and avoiding those venus flytrap monsters.  I tried speed-running in Mario Bros. as I wrote about on the blog.  After a while I just wanted to play for the sake of playing.

I’ve been beating the game over and over again.  Sometimes I skip around with the warp pipes in 1-2 and 4-2 which means I get to World 8 in just a few minutes.  Often I miss the stages inbetween and play them the next time around.

After you rescue the Princess you can play on hard mode.  All the angry ant dudes are now black turtles.  The platforms have shrunk and the windmills of lava-hot fire in the castles somehow feel hotter.

Mario Bros. anybody?

Between my two brothers we had it all.
My Systems:
-NES,
-Sega Genesis.  I loved Sonic
-GameBoy, GameBoy pocket, GameBoy color.  Maybe that’s why I love owning iPods.  I have had a few big GameBoy = 3rd gen, photo, and a GameBoy pocket = iPod mini.  etc.
-N64
-66mHz DOS machine by ZeOS, a company later bought by Packard Bell

Middle bro. Josh’s systems:
-Shared Nintendo
-SNES
-Game Gear
-His own N64
-XBOX
-Sega DreamCast

Youngest bro., for now, Jordan’s systems:
-Game Boy Advance
-Inherited Dreamcast

Thriller, which Sonic games do you like and why?

I have the Sega Sonic series, complete as far as I know from the first game to Sonic 3D.  I even have Dr. Robotnick’s Mean Bean Machine...ugh.  In total there’s six games there’s Sonic 1,2,3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3D, and Dr. Robotnick.  Oh wait, there’s 7---Sonic Spinball.  Know any others?

Sonic 3 was my favorite.  I liked the saved feature and playing with the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge in there.  Knuckles kicked butt.

Tails unlocked special areas through flight and saved your butt.  My younger brother Josh was a vital part of the team.  He would carry me up to new places.  Sonic and Tails together, two player style, as a team is a way to go.

By the way, what’s Vector Man?

Anyway, thanks for letting me get nostalgic!  Talk to you.

All I had was a 386, though it did have 100+ MB of games on it, which was a LOT at the time.

Which games on the 386?  My ZeOS was a 386 as well.  Hexen, Heretic, Doom, Raptor (the space shooter), Game of Life, et all.

What about your Mac Plus Nick?  Did it have “Desktop Accessories” like the puzzle game by the way?
