The Good
-starts out as LiveCD but can be installed
-detects firewire hardware
-uses synaptic package manager to install software and manage dependencies for you either over the internet or with a cd that comes with a purchased copy
-comes with nvidia and ati drivers that can be setup automatically for you durning installation
-built in wireless support
The Bad
-uses deb packages which are hard to find for some programs, alien doesn’t always convert RPMs
-no way to syncronise repositories with mepis.org
-good laptop support, but not if you use USB devices (have to specify acpi=off for USB to work)
-wireless supports only a few adaptors and no wpa encryption without complex procedure
-wine won’t work with winetools
The Ugly
-using an expirimental procedure in an attempt to install OO 2.0 as a last resort resulted in FUBAR
-several repositories have been moved so many packages won’t install
-attempting to install some packages result in FUBAR
-default is to install grub in MBR (meaning if it gets f’cked up you can’t boot anything, if it is installed in root you simply activate your windows partition)
