A week with Adium

I'm gonna be spending the next week using Adium in the place of iChat and aMSN.

I’ve know about adium for quite a while now and the last version I used was one of the 0.7 builds. I didn’t like it that much. I could see that it was a good app, but there was something about it that was just putting me off, so I continued using iChat and Messenger. Well, I have since dumped Messenger for aMSN and Adium is now at 0.81. So thanks to Bob I have been convinced to try adium again, which gave me an idea.

I’m gonna be spending the next week using Adium in the place of iChat and aMSN. By the end of the week we’ll see whether it replaces one or both of the apps in my dock. The answers will be here and also as a DT review of the latest version of Adium. I’ll report back in a week

thinkback

1.

Adium’s pretty cool; you’ll be impressed.

...yet I still use iChat regardless… raspberry

2.

Say goodbye to Direct Connect tho. Adium is still VERY Beta and VERY buggy!

I can’t use it inplace of iChat! And the moment anyone sends you a Direct Connect (image, for example) it will crash Adium to th point where you can NOT communicate with that person again until you relaunch it.

More work needs to be done to Adium before anyone should really switch to it.

Easy way to find out who is using Adium - send them a Direct Connect picture, the next thing you’ll hear from them if they have Adium - is them cursing you out. :p
