Apple and Intel Gang up against Microsoft?

Robert X. Cringely of I, Cringely has his own view on Apple’s recent decision to switch CPUs in Macintosh computers from AIM’s (Apple-IBM-Motorola) PowerPC to Intel’s x86. He thinks that the main reason was not what we all heard at WWDC. What happened to Apple’s 64-bit hype? Why Intel and not AMD? Is this all about DRM? Why pre-announce a chip change a year before it happens? If Mathematica could be recompiled to run natively on x86 in a matter of a few hours, why other developers need a year to do it?

Read Going for Broke to find answers to these and other questions.
