Apple market share holds steady

Macworld UK reports that Apple’s global market share for 2004 stands at 1.8 percent, which is about even with 2003.

This places the company marginally behind Gateway. Globally, these analysts believe PC sales climbed 13.4 per cent last year.

Apple however stayed close to the average, recording 13.2 per cent global growth last year.

Longer-range figures from an earlier Mac Observer article show Apple’s 2004 Q3 market share at 1.8%, flat with 2003 Q3 market share. If anything, this indicates that Apple’s market share has probably bottomed out and leveled off. Many analysts agree that with their strong product line and a potential iPod “Halo Effect”, Apple is poised for market share growth in 2005.
