Finally.

Apple’s Mighty Mouse has arrived, and not a moment too soon. Now how about shipping it with all Macs?

1.

Nah, giving customers a choice is probably a better idea since Apple’s reasoning for not making a multibutton mouse (until now, of course) is that it’s a difficult concept to understand for newbies, and there are still people who validate this reason.

“a difficult concept for newbies”

You click with one button it does one thing, you use the other and it does something else, what’s so confusing about that?

“You click with one button it does one thing, you use the other and it does something else, what’s so confusing about that?”

you’d think that, wouldn’t you?
yet I’ve dealt with lots of tech support calls where the caller gets confused after telling them “right-click"… 1st it’s “I don’t have a right-click” or “what do you mean right-click?”, then every time I say “click” after that - it’s “Right-click or Left-click?” ARGH!!! >:O

Yes, Apple - PLEASE don’t make this one standard!!! Single button mouse for all - unless they know what other buttons are for, then make it an option or make them buy it later.

As for me, I’m trying to decide if I can survive without paying something else for another month to get it. smile

Like electricity?  Or rent?

I agree when SogniX’s said Mighty Mouse should not be Apple’s standard mouse.

On SlashDot I read a really good comment about why to keep shipping one-button mice.  The gist of it was “Any reasonable developer will design their program to work with only one mouse button because most Mac owners will have standard one button mice.”

I hope future programs continue to work well with one-button mice.

6.

I hope Apple does make the mighty mouse standard so future versions of OSX will put a menu where it would be the most convenient, under the cursor.

Huh? confused OS X already has contextual menus, if that’s what you’re talking about… they’ve been there since OS 8, you just got them by control-clicking if you didn’t have a right button. tongue rolleye

I have to say, the more buttons a mouse has, the better it is for me. The more functions I can access without using my right hand, the better.

No, not for that reason. wink

The reason is I have a disability on my right arm that curtails its movement, so it can sometimes be a strain using it to type. This is one of the reasons why I really love the scroll wheel on most modern mice.
