Geek Toy of the Week: Say cheese! SnapNDrag 1.6.1

Apple provides a good number of screen capture tools with Mac OS X. And for many people, the built-in screen capture capabilities are enough. But there is good reason to give Yellow Mug’s SnapNDrag a look. SnapNDrag is a small free utility which allows you to do things with screenshots you can’t do--or can’t do as easily--with the built-in tools. From the Yellow Mug web site:

SnapNDrag lets you take a screenshot by just clicking a button and dragging the resulting screenshot off. For example, to email a screenshot, you would drag the screenshot from SnapNDrag to the Mail application. It is that simple. No hard-to-remember key combinations, no file conversion to deal with, no file dialog boxes to navigate, no temporary files to erase later on.

SnapNDrag also allows users to save their screenshots in several different formats, including PNG, TIFF, and JPEG, and it makes it easy to scale images down. SnapNDrag works with Mac OS X 10.2 or later. There are a lot of hidden gems to this utility, such as file naming preferences, timed screenshot timer adjustment, and other cool goodies. We give it our seal of approval.
