thinkback
I don’t think it is an advert that apple would use but it is still a good advert
You think itís good, because you *recognize* stuff in the ad, but donít learn anything new.
1 Word: “Yum”
In case that comment wasn’t too clear - I was referring to the old iMac 5 colour iMac ads. Stylish, powerful and they had more or less the same feel.
“ I mean itís nice visuals and a nice tune, but it doesnít make clear what an iPod mini is or why itís so special.”
Gobo, do the iPod silhouette ads teach you anything about the product, aside from the fact that it’s for “Mac+PC” and if you buy it you can dance to your music?
Usually, ads that “teach” you about a product are boring, and people tune them out. With a flashy ad like this, you catch their attention and if they’re interested they’ll look the iPod up later, which is what you really want them to do.
The silhoutte ads are inherently limited to 2D and without movement. And with those limitations, it’s a great ad.
But this movie conveys about the same, but has more possibilities to express itself, therefore, it is not a great ad.

I agree. In the end it doesn’t ‘sell’ the iPod mini. Instead the iPod mini is used to create cool effects.
Nice ideas, but not quite there YET. Perhaps with a little guidence no doubt he will be able to have that extra clever Apple Ad taste.
