I Am Wise No More

White shirt + oral surgery = time for a new shirt.

Well, I finally went in and got my wisdom teeth taken out.  They’d been coming in for a while now, especially the top-left one, and were starting to cause some inner-lip-scratching problems.  So my mom got me up at 7:30 this morning (went to bed at 6 a.m., heh) and took me to the dentist’s office.  As I’m sure everyone who’s been in for surgery can relate, I was rather nervous as they were prepping me, and I just wanted them to hook the anesthetic up to the needle and send me to empty-nothing-land, which they finally did after putting some other drugs into my system.

So I remember vaguely waking up a few times after it was all over, and trying hard to communicate with certain other people.  My mom tells me that I tried to call my girlfriend, but I was so unintelligible that it probably would have sounded like a prank call (and I think she’s at work anyway, or still asleep).  So my mom called her and told her I was doing fine, etc. which was nice of her.  I also vaguely remember trying to write notes down on paper, since I couldn’t talk very well with so much gauze in my mouth.  I was especially concerned about my dad, since I have to take him to the doctor’s next Tuesday (which I thought was going to be tomorrow grin) and I wanted to make sure it would go smoothly.

So that’s the status of my personal life (well, sans-very personal life… kiss ).  As far as the geek side of me goes, it’s mostly been trying to fit in time to work on the site.  I tend to stay up late, often until dawn, which happens to be some of the best time for hacking HTML and PHP (if I can get in the mood, at least).  So a number of the changes you may or may not notice are done under the effects of sleep deprivation, which may or may not actually improve things.  cool smile  There are some aspects of this new design that ended up in the bit bucket that I’m rather proud of, mostly graphic designs; most of the icons I made have much higher-resolution versions, and we didn’t even implement the splash screen.  If anybody’s interested, I’ll put up higher-resolution versions of those icons (you can see a couple already, like on the 404 page).  And the splash screen is here; I rather like it, so if anyone has any ideas for how we can use it, I’m all ears.

thinkback

1.

Those are, uhm, some fine teeth in that photo. raspberry

2.

I wouldn’t even let them prep me, I would force them to take advantage of the lack of resistance I have in my unconcious state.
