I hate power outages

Give me the lights, precious lights, give me light

Just a brief rant on how much I hate power outages.  They completely destroy your productivity and interrupt your workflow, and there’s nothing you can do to prevent them.  The only measure of prevention against them is a UPS (which honestly, I can’t really justify buying right now).

It’s especially insulting when the power’s only off for a few seconds or a couple minutes.  That way, everything I’m doing is interrupted, but there’s not a big wander-around-in-the-dark-for-4-hours situation.  Gyaaaahhh.

I hear you. I was doing homework once and bam, everything shuts off. Turns out somebody at APS cut the wrong wire, and I had to hurry and finish in the morning.

It was cool to be able to see the stars, though.

I can relate.  Eventually, a few years ago, I got a power backup by APC.  Only three of the six outlets are battery-backed.  There’s not much to do anyway with the power off unless you use dialup.

Everyone should save and save often.  Or enable auto-save and automatic backups.  It is annoying to lose power.

3.

Well, fortunately, I wasn’t in the middle of an important project, and I was shutting a bunch of stuff down to reclaim resources so I could play Halo.  But it’s still annoying, abrupt and an interference.

It’s times like that that I love my iBook the most. raspberry
