iPod Nano design flaw

A website is pushing to have Apple replace iPod Nanos which gain cracked screens without any abuse from the user. It is claiming that it is a design flaw on Apples part and the evidence seems to point to that. DT has received reports that some major retail chains are finding iPod Nanos with cracks on the screen, with the cracks being on the right of the screen each time. The photos sent into the website all show the cracks are on the right of the screen.

thinkback

1.

So much for the BS Nano crash test.

A lot of reviews I’ve read about complained about the easily scratchable face, now who wants that?

2.

Just about any glossy plastic product I’ve owned gets scratched easily, Apple or otherwise. Glossy plastics just don’t hold up well.  downer

3.

Exactly.  That’s why you’re forced to buy some cover to protect them and pretty soon you can’t even recognise the original design.

I’m surprised the Nano had garnered this much complaint based on the quality of the casing.  Apparently it only costed less than $90 to make so why they couldn’t make something more durable is beyond me.

4.

I think they should ask Nintendo for tips.

5.

I don’t have the link right now, but apparently only a few iPods were affected, which Apple will replace.  It was something like 1/10 of 1% of nanos sold had defective screens.
