Masses laud release of WeatherBug Lite for Mac

Well, not really, but at any rate, weather forecast app WeatherBug has made it to the Mac, sort of. WeatherBug Lite (free, but ad-supported) now comes in a Macintosh version, however WeatherBug Plus (paid service, ad-free) is not yet available for Mac OS X.

Off the desktop and onto the Web. WeatherBug Lite Mac brings you the same great information found in the traditional WeatherBug application. You will need to download a small applet to enable the WeatherBug alerting feature, but the rest of the great content the application is known for
is now on the Web.

Other new features from Weatherbug include an RSS feed and weather update Podcast.

WeatherBug Lite for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later. Lucky you.

thinkback

1.

Just what Mac users DON’T need - adware and spyware from their Windows counterparts. I’m not downloading and not buying this one.

2.

Hence the irony of the title. wink

3.

I installed it and is working fine. I don’t understand your reference to spyware and adware, will you please educate me? App is working as advertised.

I installed it and tried it, even looked into the application’s package, and it seems to merely perform as advertised. It does not ask for an administrative level password to install (good) and the worst thing it did that I could find is that it automatically makes itself a Startup Item, but this is reversible within the application’s own preferences.

I’m happy enough with WeatherPop, and I prefer the level of customization offered. But for those who want something a bit more basic (and extremely easy to install) - WeatherBug Lite should fit the bill.

5.

Aren’t the Weather Widgets (the one included with Tiger, and the one with the now free Konfabulator) not enough? I see no reason for Weatherbug - other than to try and get their ad/spy ware onto the Mac.
