Microsoft finishes Windows Mobile 2005

Microsoft will announce on Tuesday that it has finished development on its upcoming Windows Mobile 2005 upgrade. The software, which will be available on various mobile phones and PDAs starting this summer, will feature a number of enhancements including software-based buttons and upgraded versions of Microsoft’s Pocket Office applications.

Notably, it will also offer Hard-Drive support, and will feature Windows Media Player 10 Mobile, which supports Janus DRM technology, used by subscription music services. Microsoft claims that 68 carriers in 40 countries have agreed to carry phones based on Windows Mobile 2005.
