Mixed bag for Apple market share

Recent figures show mixed results for Apple’s attempts to grow market share. Macworld Magazine reports that Apple’s United States and worldwide desktop share is steadily growing. The news isn’t as good for the company’s portable share, which slumped in the last quarter of 2004 (October-December) both globally and in the United States.

The article also goes on to discuss what impact the Mac mini will have on sales.

Deep Thought’s take:
While Apple updated the iBook line in November, the PowerBook languished until January of this year. The delayed updates likely caused some buyers to put off PowerBook purchases until updates were released, since the line was nearing the end of its update cycle.
