New Apple Mighty Mouse lacks wireless
Today Apple introduces the Mighty Mouse.
“Meet the mouse that reinvented the wheel. The scroll wheel, that is. At $49, Mighty Mouse features the revolutionary Scroll Ball that lets you move anywhere inside a document, without lifting a finger. And with touch-sensitive technology concealed under the seamless top shell, you get the programability of a four-button mouse in a single-button design. Click, roll, squeeze and scroll. This mouse just aced the maze”
With one hand you can easily navigate documents, right-click, and activate Expose or Dashboard. It can work like the scrolling trackpad does on new Apple laptops. And the center Scroll Ball can even be clicked as a third button.
Why isn’t this new mouse wireless?
With every new iBook, PowerBook, and iMac Bluetooth 2.0 is standard. It’s a $50 option on PowerMacs and eMacs.
A wire can tangle and takes up an otherwise empty port. With an AirPort Express and an Apple Wireless keyboard your printing, typing, and Internet can all be wireless. Now Apple is taking a step backward.
Will you buy the new mouse?
Update 3:39 EST. The mouse has a tiny built-in speaker for rolling sound effects which may drain the battery.
