NewsGator Technologies, who head the largest online RSS platform, have announced plans to acquire NetNewsWire, the front runner of RSS applications for the Mac.  NewsGator’s platform provides facilities for synchronizing RSS feeds across numerous platforms, including the Internet, mobile devices and home entertainment centers.  The only thing missing was a Mac client, and this will be provided by NetNewsWire.  Brent Simmons, NetNewsWire’s auther, has accepted a position with the company to continue development of the application.
