A group of PodCasters who play the best of independent music have formed the Association of Music Podcasting. They hope to change the face of music promotion. When asked what he thought the AMP will do for the future of independant music, Matt Galligan told Deep Thought,

“AMP is going to give the independent music industry the tools it needs to overcome the mainstream industry.  You’ve got your distribution method (podcasting), soon we might have an online digital downloads store (merchandising) and we’ll just have one of the biggest grassroots movement in the music industry period once people start hearing about it.  The AMP Podcasts follow suit of how early 1980s FM radio was...where DJs could be really excited about playing tracks, and promoting a band but are now controlled by playlists and commercialism.  The Podcasts on AMP remain focused to the proliferation of the independent music they play, and are ready to enable the bands to become bigger through them.”
