Every now and then I try some form of shell replacement. I’m curious to see if they can do something better than the standard Windows interface, but I’m always disappointed. Not only is it never an improvement on what I can do by tweaking the basic Windows options but it always screwes my computer up in some fashion. Ok, that’s not entirely true, one of them didn’t cause any problems, it just brought my system to a crawl. All of the other ones have forced me to at least restart to fix things, and at worst re-install. Why on earth can’t anyone design a shell replacement that doesn’t screw up?
