Steve Balmer defeated by Malware
Saw it on MacDailyNews,
“Allchin says Ballmer, the world’s 13th wealthiest man with a fortune of about $18 billion, spent almost two days trying to rid the PC of worms, viruses, spyware, malware and severe fragmentation without success,” Frith reports. “He lumped the thing back to Microsoft’s headquarters and turned it over to a team of top engineers, who spent several days on the machine, finding it infected with more than 100 pieces of malware, some of which were nearly impossible to eradicate.”
Brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye.

thinkback
I guess I should clarify: the computer was not Ballmers; instead Ballmer’s friend asked him to check out why it slowed to a crawl.
Poetic justice, he’s getting the same shit everybody else among his customers have been getting for years.
Safe surfing? It exists in dreamland perhaps. Current state of spyware infections, for example.
And don’t expect things to improve anytime soon. Eschelbeck estimates the infection rate for PCs will be in the 85 percent and 90 percent range for the rest of the year.
Pinch me then, Mikael, because I surf safe 24/7 on two different platforms.
Funk,
Linux and OSX?
No, CP/M and PC-DOS, or course.
Sogni:
Windows XP SP2, OS X AND a fresh install of Ubuntu (yes, I installed it, no I’m not switching to Linux)
And I’m even using IE proper (no Avant for two more weeks) for a while to prove a point to my friend who thinks that it automatically causes spyware…
Is your friend Steve Balmer?
Just make sure you don’t go to any shady sites...like Yahoo Mail.
OK, I’m done. Thank you! Good night!

Someone hasn’t been practicing safe surfing practices!
