Windows Vista: Possibly the dumbest name for an OS ever…

There I said it. I think Windows Vista is the most idiotic name for an OS that anyone has thought of yet. I can imagine having to say “Windows Vista” all the time come next year, and it makes me cringe. And all the abbreviations I can think of are even worse; WVista, WinVista, WV, WVi, Vista, etc.

And yes, it’s even worse than the names for the vast majority of Linux distros. Not even Mandriva is this bad.

I’m sure it could have been much, much worse… it’s one of those names that grows on you after a while (at least, it better long face ).

Anyway, it does have the advantage of VI (from Vista) meaning 6, even if it makes it look like they’re 4 versions behind Mac OS X.

And to think.....back in about ‘98, I created a little (albeit, crappy) website, with a nice little logo, called “Vista”. When I saw this news, I literally laughed my pants off.
