Apple sues over product leak
Oopsie.
The complaint alleges that “an unidentified individual, acting alone or in concert with others, has recently misappropriated and disseminated through Web sites confidential information about an unreleased Apple product.”
MacRumors reports that it is presumably over either iPod Flash details, an Apple-Sirus deal, or an iPhone device.
The moral of the story? Don’t leak product details!

UPDATE! The Mac Observer reports that three rumor sites have been subpoenaed: AppleInsider, PowerPage, and Think Secret. Stay with Deep Thought for the latest on the Rumorgate scandal (well, it’s not really a scandal, but using the word “scandal” boosts interest
).

PC Mag give thumbs down to eMac
PC Mag has rated the eMac as the worst desktop of the year:
For Apple, the entry-level eMac really does represent Think Different. That’s because for a company that prides itself on quality, this computer is different. As in bad. On the plus side, it’s stylish. On the downside, it’s slow, underpowered, and pathetic. The 40GB hard drive will fill up quickly, the lack of a DVD burner makes offloading files impossible, and the Radeon 9200 graphics card won’t even run this fall’s hot Mac games. And at around $800, this eMac ain’t cheap. If you’re considering a home Apple, think different. Buy a Dell. Or be prepared to spend a lot more for an acceptable Apple computer.
While I agree with them that the eMac is underpowered compared to many other desktops it is far from pathetic. It is aimed at schools who don’t really care about playing the latest games and are unlikely to fill a 40GB HD. Though the eMac is long overdue a product update

RSS, Page Views & Cocoa
Well, as you can see from the news on the front page I have finally got round to adding the RSS feeds for Deep Thought. Took me a while but I forgot to do it. Wiping the database distracted me a bit
.
In other news, I checked the stats for the server today. Since December the first all the sites on the server have got a massive (for us) 57,885 page views. Over 10,000 of those were the deep thought site itself and over 18,000 were the forum index page. That leaves about 30,000 page views for about 5 other sites on my server plus any extra’s for deep thought that have been missed. We have been getting about 5000 page views a day since last friday (10th of December) and if we carry on like we are doing we could reach 100,000 page views for the whole of December, so keep reading.
And now for something that isn’t Deep Thought related. I am porting an app to OSX from PC called iStory Creator. I have been working on it since June and have had next to no success with it. I managed to scrape together a beta with lots of help from my friends. Though in about 8 hours today I have managed to rewrite it and get further than I have got before, with no help from my friends. I feel really proud of myself. I just have one more major feature to implement, and I just know…

What makes a computer cool?
Okay, so I was reading a thread on XvsXP’s message board, and I started thinking about the difference between Macs and PC’s and what makes them cool. As you all (should) know, I’m a diehard Mac fan, and the only time I would consider buying a PC is if it were a superfluous purchase. It wouldn’t have to hit me financially, so it would have to be on the same level as buying a TV for my room: something I can afford easily that I don’t necessarily need.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t think there are a lot of things about PC’s that are just cool. Windows, for example, has a number of features that Mac OS X lacks complete or any support for; however, Windows and OS X are not the issue here. The issue is the hardware. Don’t tell me, if you’re a Mac lover like me, that the idea of 3.2 Ghz processors with 1.5 GB of RAM and a massive hard drive doesn’t make you drool, at least a little. And for so cheap! Customization all the way! Which brings me to the focus of this article:
What makes a computer look cool?
To illustrate, I present to you a picture of a Power Mac G5 and a (generic?) PC case. Now, to compare, what makes these computers cool?
The G5 is absolutely stunning in its simplicity. It is forged from what looks like two pieces of aluminum, with smooth curves and the infamous cheesegrater cooling…
