iPodSoft release iPod Agent 0.8.0.1 beta
iPodSoft have released the latest version of their popular iPod Agent software for Windows. It now features a re-designed interface and a new plug-in system. iPod Agent lets you download RSS feeds, movie times, weather, e-mail and more to your iPod. iPod Agent requires a computer running Windows 98, 2000 or XP and the .Net framework installed.

Super Shuffle rips off iPod Shuffle
I was shocked when I saw this - the Super Shuffle looks absolutely identical to the iPod shuffle, except for the extra switch on the back to enable FM radio tuning and Voice recording… I suspect apple may get a black name for this, simply because it’s iTunes integration won’t work as well - mostly because it doesn’t support AAC, instead it supports WMA.
The advertising is… you guessed it, black silhouettes on a primary colour (in this case red) background with a white Super Shuffle.
All I can say is, that I’m appalled simply on the level of this being a theft of someone elses work. Even if the iPod shuffle were a Microsoft device I would be appalled.

Another One Bites The Dust
Virgin Electronics is no more. Richard Branson has decided that the company’s MP3 players (designed to compete with the iPod) have failed at their task, and after poor christmas sales has pulled the plug.

1 millionth Tablet PC sold!
According to Evan’s Weblog, the 1 millionth Tablet PC was sold in February. That’s not a large number compared to the whole computer market, but it is a significant milestone consideringit was thought it would go the way of previous pen computers. Sales in 2003 were over 400 thousand, so Tablet PC sales would appear to be increasing by 100 thousand each year.

The Compaq R3000z
Finding an affordable laptop is hard if you want it to run as smooth as your desktop. In my search for a powerful and affordable laptop I finally decided on the Compaq R3000z. I have never been happier with a new computer than this one. For a little over $1000 I got a laptop with an A64 3000+, 256MB RAM, a GeForce Go 440 64MB, 80GB 5400 RPM HDD, and a 12 cell lion battery with 4 hour battery life, at full spew. The system runs smoothly, I have yet to find an app that wouldn’t run on it.
The particular configuration I had is not the base configuration, a R3000z can be had for as little as $649 with an AXP 2800, 256 MB RAM, a GeForce Go 440 32MB, 40GB 4200 RPM HDD, and an 8 cell LION that gets 2.5 hours at full spew.
If you are looking for something powerful, and mobile, and you don’t have a lot of dough, get the R3000z.
