iPod Ripoff Goodness…
I guess it’s just too hard for people to come up with unique designs. Oh no! Not creativity! anything but that! Anyway, it’s always funny how people can take a cool product, make a ripoff of it, and render it rather unappealing.
Let’s see how long it takes Apple Legal to jump on them.

PC Mag give thumbs down to eMac
PC Mag has rated the eMac as the worst desktop of the year:
For Apple, the entry-level eMac really does represent Think Different. That’s because for a company that prides itself on quality, this computer is different. As in bad. On the plus side, it’s stylish. On the downside, it’s slow, underpowered, and pathetic. The 40GB hard drive will fill up quickly, the lack of a DVD burner makes offloading files impossible, and the Radeon 9200 graphics card won’t even run this fall’s hot Mac games. And at around $800, this eMac ain’t cheap. If you’re considering a home Apple, think different. Buy a Dell. Or be prepared to spend a lot more for an acceptable Apple computer.
While I agree with them that the eMac is underpowered compared to many other desktops it is far from pathetic. It is aimed at schools who don’t really care about playing the latest games and are unlikely to fill a 40GB HD. Though the eMac is long overdue a product update

iPhone?
Well, the old iPhone rumors are swirling again, but this time there may be some truth to it:
“We’ve said we have something coming on this in the first half of 2005 and we’re definitely on schedule for that. Hopefully you’ll be able to see more about it soon,” says Eddy Cue, vice president in charge of applications at Apple.
The Forbes article speculates that this mythical phone may debut at MWSF in January 2005. So, Apple, given your track record on not commenting on future products until they are unveiled, are you now looking for a new Applications VP?

iMac G5 is “Computer of the Year”
The Washington Times has named the iMac G5 their Computer of the Year. From the article:
It will cost close to $2,100 to get the supersized 20-inch model with extra RAM and a wireless keyboard and mouse. That’s a relatively high price in this age of far-less-expensive Windows-based machines. But Apple Computers IMac G5 is a very impressive machine. It earns top honors from this column, and might well earn a top spot on your holiday shopping list.
