Legal Information and Policies
Rules Of Conduct
These are the rules of conduct for the Deep Thought forums and comment threads.
- Do not reveal the personal information of other members without their consent. We don’t want to be responsible for any of our members’ inboxes being inundated with advertisements for sexual enhancement drugs, home mortgage deals or confused Nigerians trying to make friends.
- Make your posts comprehensible. Nobody’s perfect, but make what you are trying to say as clear as possible. If you need educating in the English language, there are plenty of people here who would be happy to help… try asking one of the English majors.
- No personal attacks (insults; disparaging remarks about one’s nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or race; related nastiness). General rudeness is also not tolerated, you impotent freaks!
- Discussion of illegal activity will not be tolerated, including but not limited to the posting of “warez”, instructions or software for defeating copy protection, codes for unlocking software, links to such materials, or illegal activity outside the realm of computers. Failure to follow this rule will result in a nice visit from our friends at the FBI, and a rather large bill to replace your front door.
- Do not post threads or messages discussing another user. Also, do not discuss moderator actions on the forum or in the weblogs. Either offense may be grounds for a temporary ban. If you have a problem with the staff’s handling of something, contact the staff directly via a PM or email.
- Do not use more than one screenname. Using multiple screennames for any reason without the consent of Deep Thought’s staff will result in a permanent ban. If you would like to change screennames, please contact an administrator. If you were banned and use another screenname to rejoin the site, well, you’re just a jackass!
- No spam. This includes, but is not limited to advertising products or web sites, posting the same comment multiple times (unless it is deemed to be an accident by the staff), pyramid schemes, and so on. Spam messages will be deleted and spammers may be banned temporarily or permanently, at the staff’s discretion.
Again… No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. No spam. NO. SPAM. EVER.
- Do not post or link to anything grotesque or inappropriate. Keep in mind that this is a public website accessed and accessible by minors, so please keep it fairly clean—no worse than PG-13.
- We will not be held responsible for hefty keyboard replacement bills or $100 per hour therapy sessions.
- You may not post anything libelous or untrue that will ruin a member or any other person’s reputation. Otherwise, we’ll post those revealing photos you thought you got rid of.
- Please keep on topic wherever and whenever possible. Please do not counter-argue against a topic for no other reason than you think the topic is wrong; disagreeing simply to disagree is strongly discouraged. If you have a reasonable, well-thought-out counter-argument, by all means post it; but please do not argue a point so much that the horse has died, decomposed, and been eaten by buzzards. Reasonable discussion is welcome; continuous, ongoing back-and-forth sniping is not.
Rules may change from time to time, if members cause trouble that we don’t yet have rule for, or if the staff deems a change necessary. Enforcement may vary depending on the circumstances. It usually boils down to this: treat others with respect.
We reserve the right to change these rules at any time. BY POSTING ON THIS WEBSITE, IT IS THEREBY ASSUMED THAT YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS LISTED ABOVE, WHETHER YOU HAVE READ THEM OR NOT. YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO ABIDE BY THEM.
NOTE:The views and opinions expressed by individual bloggers and comment posters are solely those of that individual and do not necessarily represent the views of Deep Thought as a whole.
